Why Does Internet Speed Drop? What is a Fair Usage Policy?
Internet speed can be defined as access speed and download speed. The internet speed is clearly stated in the contract with the internet service provider. However, internet service providers, such as Türk Telekom and Süperonline, can slow down internet speeds with a new application called a fair usage policy.
What is a Fair Usage Policy?
Unlimited internet users may complain that their internet speeds, which provide super-fast access for a certain period, slow down within a few weeks. The most important reason for this is the fair usage policy. In other words, downloading too many files during that period causes your service provider to activate the fair usage policy. The internet provider first slows down your download speed for the remaining period of the billing cycle. A monthly data allowance is determined for a certain internet speed. If you exceed this allowance, your speed is reduced.
