Breast Lift Surgery (Mastopexy)
How is Breast Lift Surgery (Mastopexy) Performed?
Breast lift surgery, medically known as mastopexy, improves the aesthetic appearance of the breasts. It also allows for greater ease of movement by freeing individuals from sagging breasts that restrict their activities. Since there is no change in the size of the rounded part of the breast during the surgery, breast lift surgery does not cause any change in breast size. However, if the patient also has issues with large or small breasts, breast augmentation or reduction can also be performed. Sagging in the breasts can occur in women due to gravity, lack of exercise, breastfeeding, aging, rapid weight changes, and genetic factors.
Post-Surgery Recovery Process
Sagging breasts often involve excess skin. To remove the drooping skin, incisions of approximately 3 cm are made, and the skin is removed. Then, tissue tightening is performed to lift the nipple upwards. This procedure, which eliminates problems such as breast sagging, stretching, or widening, can result in healthier and more aesthetically pleasing breasts. Before the surgery, measurements of the breast and nipple are taken to prepare the patient for the operation. After the surgery, the patient should wear a sports bra.
