What is Special Education
Education provided for children who differ from their peers for various reasons (physical and mental) and require special attention is called special education. Special education is education provided by specially trained teachers to meet the educational needs of individuals who need special education. The aim of special education is to ensure that individuals with disabilities and impairments are educated in a way that is appropriate to their disabilities and impairments. Special education differs from normal education in terms of content. Children who have difficulty due to their disability or impairment are provided with the necessary skills and knowledge through an intensive and systematic training program in a suitable environment. Gifted children, and those with impairments and disabilities, are individuals who should receive special education.
Institutions Providing Special Education in Turkey
Institutions providing special education in Turkey demand very high amounts of money. Many families cannot afford special education for their children with disabilities and impairments, and the state support provided to individuals in need of special education remains at a minimum level. The scarcity of qualified educational personnel is a significant problem.
