Ransomware: The Major Threat to Computers
What is Ransomware? Ransomware is an ever-growing threat to computers and computer users, affecting more and more people. As the name suggests, ransomware is used by scammers who take control of your computer and demand a ransom from you. This software, which mostly spreads from pornographic websites, first began to threaten computers in 2009. This software makes the computer user appear as if they have committed a crime, locks the computer, and demands money to unlock it. This software, which sends accusatory messages through pop-up windows to people who frequent pornographic sites, convinces the computer owner that they have committed a crime and demands that they pay money to unlock their computer. Scammers Don't Slow Down A computer infected with ransomware is locked and completely unusable. Ransomware scammers demand money from the computer owner, and unfortunately, many people fall into the scammers' trap and pay this money. The scammers use such advanced technology that, for example, they can use the logo of the Turkish Police to send a message to a person living in Turkey. Seeing the Turkish Police logo, the person believes they have done something wrong. The scammer gangs receive payments through cards like Ukash, MoneyPak, and Paysafecard.
