How to Make a Seashell Collection
Different Reflections in Seashells
Collecting is an indispensable passion. Perhaps you have seen many collections for years. Which one impressed you the most? Could it be seashells? We think it could be. Imagine the dance of thousands of colorful seashells from different parts of the world all together... Collecting is very special for everyone. It is such a pursuit that once you start, you cannot quit. You look after them every day as if they were your child. You are proud of your work and search for new pieces. Of course, collections can be made of many things. Money, stamps, beer caps, matchboxes, napkins, pens... One of these is a seashell collection, which is incredible for those who admire the smell of the sea. Every year when you go on vacation, eyes search for seashells brought by the waves by the sea. It's not enough, the land is dug as if searching for treasure with diving goggles. The shells of mussels and marine minerals change from one shape to another. They are so beautifully crafted that they look as if they were specially manufactured... And of course, once you start collecting, you don't want to stop. Seashells vary in every sea and ocean. The salinity of the sea and the air temperature affect the shapes and types of seashells. That's why there are so many different seashells on the shores of the world. The more you travel, the more varieties you find. And especially when you find a large seashell, no one can spoil your mood. They are colorful, they are diverse. They bring happiness as you look at them. They also have a myth. When you bring large seashells close to your ear, the echo that forms sounds like the waves of the sea.
Searching in Different Places
In Turkey, there are three major collectors, and three separate seashell museums. The most well-known among collectors is the businessman Hasan Güleşçi, who was once the CEO of Sabancı Holding. For about 53 years, he brought seashells he collected from all the seas and oceans he visited around the world to Turkey. The value of his collection of over approximately 6,000 seashells is estimated to be between 2 and 5 million dollars. Güleşçi's collection is currently exhibited at the Bodrum Deniz Museum. Another collector is Can Geyran. He has a collection of approximately 3,000 seashells. Geyran's seashell collection awaits its visitors in a museum in Kartal, Istanbul. Şamil Karaerkek, a civil engineer from Tokat, is also among the well-known seashell collectors. For about 12 years, he has cared for the seashells he collected from the seas as if they were his own child. They were once exhibited in Ankara. Those wonderful shells, each looking like a work of art, fascinate people. If you want to make a seashell collection, don't hesitate. Run to the beaches right away. However, don't forget to number and classify the seashells you find... For example, the class of the shell, its lower and upper family, its name, its geographical origin, the date it was found, the name of the person who found the shell, its size... Because this information will be needed later. Collecting is a great passion. Collecting seashells, one of the greatest treasures of the sea, is a different passion. If you decide to collect, this passion will lead you as far as the state of Florida in the United States, known as a shell paradise. Just letting you know...
