Guide to Barış Manço's Museum House in Moda, Istanbul

Welcome to Barış Manço's House in Moda

We always remember our dear Barış with the beautiful memories of our childhood. Barış Manço, who left us on February 1, 1999, plunging his loved ones worldwide into sorrow, was a role model for us not only with his beautiful songs but also with his message of peace, friendship, and humanity. The Moda district, one of Istanbul's oldest and most established neighborhoods, once again tells us that Istanbul is a city of immense history and culture. This is a place that has preserved its popularity and tranquility from past to present. There are places to visit and sights to see in Moda that you should explore. When you pass by, you must see a few of them. First, let's talk a bit about the historical story of this beautiful district. In the 1800s, for reasons unknown, the area up to Moda Point was gifted by Sultan Abdülmecit to the Vitol Family, one of the established families of the time. The Vitol Family then had their architects design projects and built mansions in their own style. The house of Barış Manço, which we share below, was the house where the last members of this Vitol Family lived. Barış Manço saw this house, liked it very much, and bought it from the last members of the family. Normally, there was a twin to this house right next to it, but it was demolished as if it were very necessary and an apartment building was built in its place. However, should such beautiful architecture be exchanged for those boring apartment buildings...
